Here are two unfinished pieces that Mr. Freeman left at The Culture Mart.

Abandoned?
Mr. Freeman has no fixed address and, therefore, frequently no reliable place to keep his work. Sometimes he stashes his pictures in hiding places outside or under bridges. Sometimes people agree to hold them for him, often for a price. Sometimes friendly businesses will hold his art for him.
Yesterday, I stopped by an artists’ consignment shop known as The Culture Mart, 225 N.Magnolia Ave. I knew that Mr. Freeman had left some work there back in August. Tr3 was holding down the fort and he allowed me to photograph 5 pictures that had been left there. Three were finished and two were in process.

Two from the Spring of 2009
The earlier post of Meditating Woman and Teacher reminded me of two pictures from the spring of this year.

New Picture – Big Eyed Girl
This summer I noticed Mr. Freeman creating a lot of glamor pictures of attractive women. I think this new work fits in that category.

The Art of Herbert Freeman
A couple of years ago a student film was made about Mr. Freeman and his art.
Teacher and Meditating Woman
Here are two snaps of new artwork Mr. Freeman brought down to sell in front of Urban Flats at the Plaza. He sold The Teacher.

My Best Friend
Mr. Freeman calls me his best friend. I am happy and proud to be his friend. However, this man’s best friend is his dog and her name is Lily.

My best friend Lily.
Erma and Herbert
Yesterday, Mr. Freeman was approached by a young woman in Sy’s Supermarket. He did not recognize her but she knew him from photographs in her mother’s house. She is Mr. Freeman’s niece, the daughter of his youngest sister. I really don’t know much about Herbert Freeman’s history or family dynamics but he later told me that he had not seen his baby sister since his mother died almost twenty years ago.
His Sister’s name is Erma and she came downtown last night from Apopka to see Herbert. I was there in front of Urban Flats when they reunited.
Here’s a photo I took.
