Sir Charles

The first time I meet Mr. Freeman I wound up buying a piece from him called Sir Charles.  Since that time I have seen maybe six or seven other Sir Charles pieces.  Each one is distinctive from the others and the Charles in each are different individuals.  He does the same with his Glorias and Sandras.  The only thing the people in the pictures share are their names.

 I have a friend in Bangkok, Thailand who is an enthusiastic supporter of Mr. Freeman and his art.  He has his own art blog called Art Found Out.  He sent me a link that features four posts concerning Hisayoshi Watanabe.  Mr. Watanabe was a homeless man who lived under a bridge in Tokyo.  He was also a visionary artist who created doll-like sculptures out of scrap cloth. 

There are extraordinary people all around us.  Some that are the most humble in means are the most remarkable in perception.

The current set of drawings that I am posting were made while Mr. Freeman was in the county jail late 2009.  There is another African-American outsider artist, Inez Nathaniel Walker, who became well-known after her drawings she made while in prison were discovered.

Vulgarhythm by Nobodyknows+ is a Japanese hip hop party.  It has the great hit Hero’s Come Back that was featured as the first opening theme  of the anime Naruto: Shippūden.

Another of Mr. Freeman’s recurring Glorias.  This actually includes her upper torso and an arm.  Depictions of the body are usually absent from Herbert Freeman’s art.

I enjoy listening to podcasts while walking my dog.  I especially enjoy podcast audiodramas.  One of the best I have come across is Second Shift.  The writing, acting, and production are all exceptional. There are two versions available; a fast loading and a high quality.  Go for the high quality as the sound on the fast loading can be annoying.
