Wesley Willis (1963-2003) was a beloved figure in the Chicago underground scene. Willis is the subject of two filmed documentaries; The Daddy of Rock ‘N’ Roll and Wesley Willis’s Joy Rides, he recorded over 50 solo music albums, and was the frontman for the great punk rock band The Wesley Willis Fiasco.
Before Willis began his music career he was a street artist. He created detailed urban landscapes of Chicago using ballpoint and felt tip pens. Today these drawings are highly sought after, particularly in Chicago.
A tribute album of Willis songs recorded by a variety of international underground artists is freely available here for downloading.
