Ryan Henry Ward

May 10, 2010

I have temporarily run out of photos of Herbert Freeman’s artwork.   It may be some time before I am able to post some more. Rather than put this blog on hiatus I have decided to head each post with the work of another of Orlando’s best folk artists: Morgan Steele.  I will post Mr. Freeman’s work when it again becomes available.

The Punching Contest by Morgan Steele

Mural painting is a form of social activism for Seattle artist Ryan Henry Ward.  He uses his bright playful images to inspire cheer and goodwill throughout the city.  Several years ago Mr. Ward quit his job and began to live, along with his dog Merlin,  in his van.  He set himself the goal of painting five murals in ten different Seattle neighborhoods for a total of  fifty.  As of this month, that number has been far exceeded as he completed his 81st mural on May 6.

You did it again James. This is amazing, I love the way he explains why he is doing his murals and why he decided to live in a car. For me that makes it totally ok.

Hope everything is going ok with mr. Freeman. Give him my regards and you talk to him.

    Have a pleasant evening.

    xoxo Elizabeth
