The Philadelphia Wireman

April 26, 2010

The Meditator

Virtually nothing is known about the anonymous artist refered to as The Philadelphia Wireman.   In 1982 an art student found around 1200 wire wrapped  small-scale sculptures that were discarded on a trash day.  That student brought the work to a gallery to be preserved.  The sculptures were first exhibited in 1985 and have been shown in many museums in the United States and Europe since.

If nothing is known about the artist, than why the assumption it is a man?

Have a lovely day and say hello to mr. Freeman for me.
